It is sad that CoRD can be so much better than the Microsoft Client. Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac is an application that allows connecting to virtual apps or another PC remotely. The beta app also boasts new feature additions, including improved user account management, and the ability to use native Mac commands such as Command-X,C,V. Looks like you can still download both RDP apps 1 and 2 from Microsoft which I didn't think to do and don't know if they would still work. Microsoft has a public Remote Desktop app available on the Mac that can be downloaded from the App Store, and the Redmond giant is now rolling out a beta client with a new user interface. Just like with Windows, you first have to set up your Mac for screen sharing. You’re not going to be able to use Remote Desktop, but that’s okay because there’s a free client called RealVNC viewer that does the trick nicely. But when you need to re-initiate the session, you need to mouse to the menu and unminimize the window. Connecting to a Mac from a Windows PC is a little different. You need to minimize the window and then you can tab between the RDP session and your mac apps.
I just got a new Macbook Pro and the only version in the app store is version 8, which has the ridiculous behavior of not being able to cmd-tab between applications if the connection window is open, so It to version 2 which had some quirks and instability.
I had been using the old version of RDP for Mac on my 2010 Macbook, I think it was 1.0.3 and preferred THANK YOU, I just downloaded CoRD and it looks to be much more elegant than RDP 8, which also stopped connecting to my PC which is in the next room(!).
